Justin Verlander is back with the Astros following a brief stint in Queens with the Mets. The 40-year-old was re-acquired by Houston in a trade deadline deal with New York, but his exit from the Mets wasn’t without controversy.

An anonymous Mets player reportedly told the New York Post that Verlander was a “diva,” prompting a response from the three-time Cy Young winner.

On Monday, Verlander took to Twitter in attempt to clear the air over the criticism from the anonymous Met, indicating that he had no hard feelings toward the organization.

“I want to say that I have nothing but respect for the Mets organization and I enjoyed connecting with all of my teammates this season... new and old!! It truly was a wonderful group of people,” wrote Verlander.

“That being said, we all know the success of a team is made up of more than just the players on the field, everyone’s input is valuable. I’m sorry to hear that a staff member took offense to constructive criticism on how we could improve,” he added, before wishing the organization luck.

In 18 starts this season, 16 for the Mets and two for the Astros, Verlander has registered a 3.19 ERA with 92 strikeouts across 107 1/3 innings.

Mike Puma of the Post reported that Verlander’s relationship with Max Scherzer “still had some bumps” during their second stint as teammates. The pair also played together for the Tigers from 2010-14, at which point they reportedly didn’t have the “best relationship.”

Scherzer was also traded at the deadline, landing with the Rangers in a blockbuster deal.
